Crypto-related ETFs posted broadly positive performance on May 21 as digital asset markets stabilized near recent highs. Spot Bitcoin ETFs advanced roughly 1.1% on the day, led by strong moves in funds such as iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC), and ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF (ARKB), while leveraged Bitcoin products including the 2x Bitcoin Strategy ETF (BITX) and ProShares Ultra Bitcoin ETF (BITU) gained more than 2%. Ethereum ETFs also traded higher, with major spot products including ETHA, FETH, and ETHE rising approximately 1.2%–1.3%, while leveraged Ether funds such as ETHU and ETHT advanced more than 2.4%. XRP-focused ETFs were similarly strong, with spot-oriented products posting gains near 1%, while leveraged XRP vehicles including XXRP, XRPT, and UXRP rose between 2.2% and 2.8%. Solana ETFs outperformed many other crypto segments, with spot and staking-oriented funds generally gaining around 2.1%–2.3%, while leveraged Solana ETFs including SOLT and SLON rallied more than 4%. Overall, leveraged crypto ETFs significantly outperformed their spot counterparts as investor appetite for higher-beta digital asset exposure remained elevated throughout the session.

Cryptocurrency markets traded modestly higher heading into the May 21 open, with total market capitalization rising 0.5% to $2.67 trillion. Market leadership continued to come from select altcoins, particularly Hyperliquid (HYPE), which surged 20% over the past 24 hours and more than 50% over the last week, extending strong momentum in trading infrastructure-related assets. Zcash (ZEC) also outperformed, gaining nearly 14% on the day and over 27% for the week, while Mantle (MNT), Aster (ASTER), and Bittensor (TAO) posted solid advances. On the downside, MemeCore (M) declined more than 15%, making it the session’s notable laggard.

Among major Layer-1 networks, Bitcoin traded relatively flat near $77,600, while Ethereum slipped slightly and remains down nearly 6% over the past week. Solana, Avalanche, and Polkadot posted moderate gains, although broader Layer-1 performance remained mixed overall. In the Metaverse sector, performance was uneven, with Klaytn outperforming while Chiliz experienced notable weakness. DeFi assets were similarly mixed, as Filecoin outperformed while Chainlink, Cronos, and Uniswap remained under pressure on a weekly basis.

Compared with the prior evening’s session, market sentiment remained constructive despite continued divergence beneath the surface. Hyperliquid and Zcash maintained strong upward momentum, while selective strength also appeared in assets such as Ondo and Celestia. Overall, trading activity suggests investors continue rotating into high-momentum and infrastructure-focused tokens even as broader large-cap crypto assets consolidate near recent highs.
