A Strategic Resource for ETF Digital Asset (Crypto-Currency) Investors

Crypto Morning Daily

Crypto ETF performance was broadly weaker on June 22 as digital asset prices pulled back, though fund flows remained mixed. Among Bitcoin ETFs, the major spot funds—including iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC), and ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF (ARKB)—declined roughly 2% on the day, reflecting Bitcoin’s weakness. Despite the negative price action, flows were mixed, with IBIT experiencing approximately $30.8 million in outflows, while FBTC attracted $14.0 million in inflows. Bitcoin-related leveraged products were hit harder, with the 2x Bitcoin Strategy ETF (BITX), ProShares Ultra Bitcoin ETF (BITU), and T-Rex 2X Long Bitcoin ETF (BTCL) falling between 4.2% and 4.5%, highlighting the amplified impact of Bitcoin’s decline.

Ethereum ETFs also traded lower, with spot products such as ETHA, FETH, and ETHV down roughly 1.5% to 1.7%on the day. Flow activity was mixed, as ETHA saw nearly $9.0 million of outflows, while leveraged products attracted investor interest. The 2x Ether ETF (ETHU) fell 3.2% but recorded approximately $12.7 million of inflows, and the ProShares Ultra Ether ETF (ETHT) declined 3.5% while adding roughly $1.6 million in new assets. Despite the daily weakness, most Ethereum ETFs remained positive on a one-week basis, posting gains of approximately 2% to 4%.

Solana ETFs experienced some of the largest declines among the major crypto ETF categories. Spot-oriented products, including Bitwise Solana Staking ETF (BSOL), VanEck Solana ETF (VSOL), and Fidelity Solana Fund (FSOL), fell roughly 2.8% to 3.3%, although they remained up about 4% over the past week. Leveraged Solana products were notably more volatile, with the 2x Solana ETF (SOLT) and ProShares Ultra Solana ETF (SLON) declining more than 6% on the day, despite maintaining weekly gains exceeding 6%.

Within the XRP ETF segment, performance was similarly negative. Spot XRP funds generally declined about 3%, while leveraged offerings such as the Teucrium 2x Long Daily XRP ETF (XXRP), Volatility Shares XRP 2X ETF (XRPT), and ProShares Ultra XRP ETF (UXRP) dropped between 6.1% and 6.7%. Flow activity was mixed, with XRPT attracting approximately $1.4 million in weekly inflows, while the REX-Osprey XRP ETF (XRPR) experienced roughly $1.7 million in outflows.

Overall, leveraged crypto ETFs significantly underperformed their spot counterparts, with most 2x products posting daily losses between 3% and 7%, roughly double the declines seen in the underlying assets. While broad crypto ETF performance reflected a risk-off session, selective inflows into leveraged Ethereum, Solana, and XRP products suggest some investors are using the recent weakness to position for a potential rebound.

The cryptocurrency market showed signs of recovery between June 19 and June 22, with total market capitalization rising from $2.23 trillion to $2.28 trillion. Bitcoin rebounded 2.8% to $64,048, while Ethereum gained 3.3% to $1,744, helping lift overall market sentiment following the broad selloff reported on June 19. Other major Layer-1 networks also moved higher, with Solana posting one of the strongest performances among large-cap cryptocurrencies, climbing nearly 8% to $73.59, while BNB advanced 3.6% to $592.09. Despite the broader recovery, some Layer-1 tokens continued to struggle, particularly NEAR Protocol, which was among the market’s largest decliners and fell 5.4% over the last 24 hours.

Performance across altcoins was mixed but generally improved. DeXe remained one of the strongest performers, extending its recent momentum after posting double-digit gains earlier in the week, while Celestia and Worldcoin were among the notable gainers on June 22. Within decentralized finance (DeFi), Uniswap continued to exhibit strong relative strength with a 15.5% gain over the past seven days, while Chainlink, Cronos, and Filecoin were largely unchanged. The metaverse sector remained relatively weak overall, although Axie Infinity and The Sandbox showed signs of improvement with positive weekly returns. Overall, the latest update suggests a moderate risk-on environment as investors returned to large-cap cryptocurrencies and select altcoins, though pockets of weakness remain in certain Layer-1 and smaller-cap segments of the market.
