The digital asset ETF market showed signs of stabilization on September 17 following the previous session’s broader selloff. Bitcoin-focused ETFs were relatively flat to slightly lower, with major products including IBIT, FBTC, and GBTC declining roughly 0.15%–0.16% on the day. Fund flows, however, remained under pressure, with notable outflows from IBIT (-$162 million), FBTC (-$215 million), and GBTC (-$44 million). The combination of limited price movement and continued outflows suggests that Bitcoin ETF performance stabilized somewhat, although investor flows remained cautious.

Ethereum ETFs also traded slightly lower, continuing the softer performance seen across the larger digital assets. In contrast, XRP and Solana-focused products showed greater resilience. Most XRP ETFs gained approximately 0.2%–0.5%, although they remained down roughly 3%–4% over the past week. Solana ETFs were generally flat to modestly positive, with several products gaining around 0.1%–0.3%, while the Bitwise Solana Staking ETF recorded approximately $1.3 million in daily inflows.

Overall, the September 17 data points to a more stable digital asset ETF market after recent volatility, with price declines moderating across the major categories. Bitcoin and Ethereum products remained subdued, while XRP and Solana ETFs showed modest signs of recovery. However, continued outflows from major Bitcoin ETFs indicate that investor flows remained an important area of weakness despite the improvement in overall daily price performance.

From the evening of September 16 through the morning of September 17, the cryptocurrency market staged a broad rebound, with total market capitalization increasing 1.3% to $2.71 trillion as of 6:00 a.m. ET. Major Layer-1 cryptocurrencies were mostly higher, with Bitcoin rising 0.9% to $76,504, Ethereum gaining 1.6% to $2,440, BNB advancing 2.2%, and Solana climbing 3.4% to $100.49. Cardano and Avalanche also gained 2.9% and 3.9%, respectively. NEAR Protocol was the standout performer, surging more than 17% to $2.83 and rising roughly 18% over the past week, while Polkadot gained 6.3%. Despite the daily rebound, several major assets remained negative on a seven-day basis, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Cardano, and Avalanche.

Altcoins showed particularly strong momentum, led by NEAR and Zcash, which jumped 14.7% to $1,367 and was up 12.1% for the week. Canton advanced 11.1%, Aster gained 9.4%, and Uniswap rose 9.3%. The gains built on strength already visible during the September 16 evening session, when Zcash was up 18.9% and NEAR had gained 11.1%. However, the recovery was not universal, with Celestia falling 6.0% and Sei declining 4.4% in the September 17 morning update.

DeFi and metaverse assets also participated in the broader recovery. Within DeFi, Uniswap gained 9.3%, Cronos rose 4.6%, Chainlink advanced 3.2%, and Aave increased 2.8%. Metaverse tokens were positive across the board in the morning update, with Axie Infinity gaining 3.6%, Klaytn rising 3.3%, Chiliz advancing 2.8%, Internet Computer gaining 2.6%, and Decentraland rising 1.8%. The strength across these categories suggests the rebound extended beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum into higher-volatility areas of the digital asset market.

Overall, the September 17 update reflects a meaningful recovery following the previous period of broad selling pressure. The increase in total crypto market capitalization, gains across most major Layer-1 assets, and particularly strong moves in NEAR, Zcash, Uniswap, and Canton point to improved performance across much of the market. However, negative seven-day returns for several major cryptocurrencies show that the latest gains came after a weaker period and had not yet erased all of the prior week’s losses.
